''Acourtia wrightii'', common name brownfoot, is a North American species of plants in the sunflower family. It is native to the southwestern United States (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, southern Utah, southern Nevada) and northern Mexico (Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Zacatecas).〔(Flora of North America Vol. 19, 20 and 21 Page 74 Brownfoot, ''Acourtia wrightii'' (A. It is used by the Kayenta Navajo for difficult labor and as a postpartum medicine.〔Wyman, Leland C. and Stuart K. Harris 1951 The Ethnobotany of the Kayenta Navaho. Albuquerque. The University of New Mexico Press (p. 49)〕 The Hualapai also use it medicinally; in that they apply a poultice of the woolly "cotton" from the plant to open, bleeding wounds,〔Watahomigie, Lucille J. 1982 Hualapai Ethnobotany.
